Empowering the Ethiopian Jewish Community in Israel

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Hope for the Future serves Ethiopian Jewish immigrants who face many difficulties adjusting to Israeli society, extending even to the second and third generations. There are approximately 170,000 Ethiopian Jews living in Israel. With the help of Christians from around the world, CFI is able to provide financial and practical assistance to needy Ethiopian families, many of whom are unable to meet even the basic needs of their children and households. These families are deeply touched when they experience the care and practical assistance provided by their Christian friends in the nations and we often come upon believers that receive new hope from our prayers and practical support.

Additionally, this project runs a number of community development projects including teaching tailoring and seamstress skills, English language tutoring and providing foundational computer classes. So far, classes have been held in Jerusalem and B’nei Brak. CFI has also been providing support to an after-school community learning centre in B’nei Brak.  A number of young people have been part sponsored through their higher education and every one that graduates is helping to bring brighter hope for the future for themselves and their families. They remember for the rest of their lives that they were helped at a crucial time in their lives by Christian friends who cared enough to make the difference.
