The Millennium 5 – A World in Transition

This is the fifth and final part of a five-part series on what the Bible has to say about the Millennium. It is given on the eve of Tisha B’Av which is the fast when the orthodox remember the desecration and destruction of Solomon’s Temple, repeated in AD70. In this presentation, Geoff considers the Festivals and Feasts during the Millennium and offers some more thoughts regarding sacrifice and offering. The most significant feature of the festivals mentioned in Ezekiel chapters 40 through 48, is the fact that Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) is not mentioned. Today, this day is the most holy day in the Jewish year. Furthermore, in the Temple described in the book of Ezekiel, there is no Levitical High Priest, no Ark of the Covenant, no curtain, no menorah, and no table of consecrated bread. Jesus fulfils all these shadows. He is our Great High Priest. Prior to the return of Jesus, the world will have been devastated. Consequently, the Millennial period will also see a measure of global recovery. During this 1000-year period, there are mortals as well as immortals. Many mortals will come to faith and, even though they might die, their names will have been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Accordingly, at the second resurrection, described in the book of Revelation 20 verses 5 and 12, these will become part of the eternal community of God’s people in the New Heavens and the New Earth which we will consider in future talks.
