The Millennium 2 – Ezekiel’s Temple

This is the second part of a five-part series on what the Bible has to say about the Millennium. In this presentation, Geoff considers the Temple that is described in great detail in Ezekiel chapters 40 through 48.  Firstly, we consider the location of this Temple and conclude that it is north of the City of Jerusalem and not found within the city limits. This is likely to be due to the geological changes that take place when Jesus returns to the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14). In the second part of the presentation, we consider the dimensions of the new Temple and then investigate what the scriptures teach about its construction. Zechariah chapter six informs us: ‘Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the LORD. It is he who will build the temple of the LORD, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two’ (Zechariah 6:12-13). The Lord gives the prophet a visual aid who is Joshua, son of Jehozadak. Considering this priest, who returned after exile in Babylon, leads us to some very remarkable conclusions. Jesus is the Branch and the one who will build the Temple. He is also the Lord our righteousness (Jeremiah 23:6). Many will be involved in the building project, and we conclude by considering the declaration that we read in the book of Revelation, namely, “with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.  You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth (Revelation 5:9-10).”
