This talk is somewhat different. Geoff considers the \u201cCataclysms\u201d coming to Jerusalem (and the Temple Mount in particular) that occurred in AD70 and, secondly, following the Bar Kokhba revolt in AD135. It is Geoff\u2019s contention that very few believers know much or even consider the events of the second century AD when they try to understand the words of Jesus as expressed in what is known as the Olivet Discourse. The Bar Kokhba Revolt (also known as the third Roman-Jewish war) was essentially a re-run of the Maccabean revolt in the second century BC. What was true of Antiochus Epiphanes was also true of the Emperor Hadrian. Hadrian was the greatest builder in history and Geoff provides evidence that much of the work ascribed to Herod the Great was the work of Hadrian. Jerusalem was ploughed up (Micah 3:12<\/a>) and new city was built called Aelia Capitolina. The name of Israel was to be \u201cwiped off the map\u201d and the entire province renamed \u201cSyria Palaestina\u201d. It is also Geoff\u2019s contention, that the suffering of the Jewish people during the Roman-Jewish wars in the first and second centuries will never happen again within the land of Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
